My name is Tanvi Gala and I graduated from my law university in October 2020 in India and currently, I am working as an associate in a corporate law firm. Due to this program, I was able to decide my career path and now I am going to the UK for further studies to become a Solicitor. I was in my 4th year of law studies when I came across the European Centre for Career Education as a student interested in working internationally, the summer program of ECCEDU has intrigued me. On further research and after talking to the ECCEDU team, I thought this was the perfect platform to gain some international exposure.
The main benefit of this summer program was learning about law from an international perspective. I also got a chance to interact and connect with students and professionals from different cultures. Tomas and the entire team at ECCEDU were very friendly and approachable. The structure of the program was well planned and took into consideration every small detail. The thoughtfulness put into this summer program was just remarkable. The extensive coursework was related to specialized areas of law such as M&A, energy law, capital markets from legal professionals in that sector.
My internship opportunity was also a great experience; which gave me a chance to work with professionals and have a taste of work-life in a foreign country after graduating from university. I interned with Linklaters in Warsaw, Poland in the Competition & Antitrust team where I worked on issues related to competition law with aspects of commercial law. It gave me first-hand experience of the complex, multi-jurisdictional work undertaken by international law firms.
Of course, it was not always working, there were a lot of fun activities planned by them. Every week some activity was organized for the evenings and we also went on day trips on the weekends. The most memorable one for me was the laser tag game night. It was a great way to bond with the other students and the management too, as Tomas had also joined us [shooting at us in the game and securing the top scores ;)]. For my internship in the second month, I moved to Poland. They had helped me with the daunting task of accommodation, as I didn’t know which areas would be safe to live in Warsaw. Although I was in another country, they would make sure to help me with any problem that I came across.
Overall, I had a fantastic experience and would 100% recommend it.
