We are happy to say that this summer ECCEDU was once again able to contribute to a good cause thanks to our lecturers’ generosity and their decision to, instead of receiving monetary reward for their lecture, make a donation to a non-governmental organization. This year we have chosen TEREZA, Educational Centre, an organization which focuses on environmental education.
TEREZA’s main purpose is to provide unique educational programs and methodics to schools, teachers and parents who want to lead children towards environmental responsibility, consciousness and sustainable lifestyle. The organization has a great history, it was established already in 1979, originally starting with educational activities for children happening in Prokopské údolí. Nowadays, TEREZA contributes to the education of around 100 000 children and cooperates with more than 750 schools.
One of the educational programs that TEREZA provides in the Czech Republic is an international program called GLOBE in which pupils use scientific methods to help improve the environment around them. This program is guaranteed by NASA and NOAA and TEREZA proudly holds the regional office for Europe and Eurasia and supports the development of the program in 41 countries. Other international programs that TEREZA coordinates in the Czech Republic are Eco-Schools Program and Learning about Forests (LEAF) Program.
And for what will be the ECCEDU’s donation used for? It will support the organization’s overall activity and its cooperation with more than 6000 teachers who influence more than 100 000 pupils across the Czech Republic! ECCEDU would finally like to thank again to all the lecturers who decided to contribute to this great cause and we wish TEREZA, Educational Centre a bright future!
