Milica works as an architect, researcher, and a consultant in the fields of energy efficiency in buildings and sustainable development of cities. She has graduated from the Faculty of Architecture, University of Belgrade, with major in urban planning, and received her PhD from the same faculty in the field of technologies in architecture and energy efficiency in buildings. She has a versatile experience in architecture.
She was engaged as a scientific researcher at the Institute of Architecture and Urban & Spatial Planning of Serbia (2011-2016), and assisted in academic teaching activities within studio design at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Belgrade (2013-2018). She is a member of the management board of Association of Serbian Architects (ASA), where she was working in the organization of exhibitions and architectural design competitions and was an editor-in-chief of the professional journal “Arhitektura”. In 2016 she co-founded a professional activist organization KANA / ko ako ne arhitekt in Montenegro, which directly addresses urban planning decisions and their implications on sustainable development, environment, and cultural heritage protection.
This organization has started a whole new movement in public participation in urban planning decision-making, with significant progress in joint collaboration with other civic initiatives and NGOs. As part of her consulting activities, from 2016 she acts as an independent expert for evaluation of research and innovation projects submitted in response to the HORIZON 2020 and COST Action calls for proposals of the European Commission in Brussels. She is also the reviewer of scientific papers submitted for publishing to leading international scientific journals, such as Applied Energy, Energy Efficiency, and Thermal Science. Her professional work includes also the design and construction of buildings. In 2018 she has been appointed responsible designer for the preparation of technical documentation for the construction of the largest shopping mall in Serbia - Promenade in Novi Sad (150,000 sqm). She now works as an architect in architectural office CASUA in Prague.
