Ing.arch. Jaroslav Wertig was born in Cheb in 1969. He studied at the Faculty of Architecture at the Czech Technical University in Prague. He returned to Cheb after graduation to cooperate with Boris Redčenkov and Prokop Tomášek in their studio A69 – architekti. They built tens of projects together, some of them honoured with the Grand Prix OA, represented the Czech architectural scene at the Mies van der Rohe Award. Media around the globe publish projects designed by A69, appreciated by both the professional and general public. Jaroslav Wertig also engages in promoting architecture by lecturing and publishing; he wrote many reviews for the ARCHITEKT magazine where he was a member of the editorial board. He was the editor of the annual volume of Česká ročenka 2002-2003 (Czech Yearbook 2002 – 2003) and presented contemporary architecture in Hospodářské noviny daily. Jaroslav Wertig was a member of the Supervisory Board of Nadace České Architektury (Czech Architecture Foundation) in 2002 – 2009. He has been the head of the architectural design class at ARCHIP (Architectural Institute in Prague) since 2010. He was among the initiators of the Platforma městských architektů/Platform of Municipal Architects in 2013. He has been a publishing member of the editorial board of ARCHITECT+ magazine since 2018.
