Application

How can I apply? What will happen after I apply from the website?

You need to apply using the APPLY button on the top-right of this website and follow the instruction to fill in the form.
After you submit your application on the website, you will receive an auto-email which confirms that you have successfully submitted your application. Within the next 2 working days, a team member will contact you through the email address you provide to give you further instructions for payment/visa/accommodation. Please check your spam while you are waiting for us to contact you, as some email servers might identify the foreign email as spam.

Is related working experience required?

No, the professional background is not compulsory. Generally, you will gain the most if you have some knowledge and have studied the related topic, as you will know more about what you want to learn from the program. Our program will give you a good opportunity to learn the skills and experience you don’t have yet. If you have any concern, please feel free to contact us.

Is there an English proficiency level requirement?

Yes, fluent English both spoken and written is strongly required for the lectures and intern jobs. 

If your first language is not English, you must be able to provide an evidence/test result that your spoken and written command of the English language is sufficient for studying and working in English. Alternatively, we request all our applicants to send us their CV and set up an interview to really know them better as well as assessing if our program could be a good match for them.

Fees & Expenses

How much should I expect for the living expenses?

Prague: The living is rather cheap in Prague comparing with other EU countries. If you cook for yourself (the kitchen is available in students accommodation), the food from the shop is very affordable, 5-8 euro a day would be sufficient. If you go to the restaurant, it is easy to find a meal for 5-8 euro.

Warsaw: The living costs in Warsaw are not very high compared with other EU countries. If you cook for yourself (the kitchen is available in students accommodation), the food from the shop is very affordable, 5-8 euro a day would be sufficient. If you go to the restaurant, it is easy to find lunch for 5-8 euro.

New York: The living costs are some of the highest in the US. If you cook yourself, you will need 10-15 dollars a day. If you eat out you will average $15 dollars per meal although you can certainly find cheap options. There is dollar pizza everywhere (not recommended daily).

How much I need to pay for public transportation?

Prague: The monthly public transportation ticket in Prague (can be used for bus, metro, tram unlimited times), 670 Kc about 27 euro.

Warsaw: The monthly public transportation ticket in Warsaw (can be used for bus, metro, tram unlimited times), 115 PLN about 27 euro with a student discount, so be sure to have your Chinese Universiy student ID with you.

New York: Monthly MTA ticket is 120 USD. This is the best way to travel in the city.

What does the tuition fee cover?

The program fee covers the cost of 3-week lectures, 4-week internship, a luxury opening reception (Grand reception), and a Graduation ceremony with free food and drinks, transportation to field trips and sightseeing trip organized by ECCE, airport pick-up assistance when you arrive, free snacks and drinks during the lectures, 4 ECTS credit rewards (Prague - Law and Business program).

The program fee does not include food, flight, Visa or accommodation expenses.

How much should I expect to spend for the accommodation during my stay?

Prague: If you would like us to help you arrange for accommodation with other students who will come for the program, you can follow the instructions in the email after you apply for our program. We cooperate with very comfortable student accommodations with very good prices for our participants. It costs about €15-18/day, depending on the type of the room you choose (previous student accommodation: Botic Student House), or you can book any accommodation you prefer through another platform by yourself.

Warsaw: If you would like us to help you arrange for accommodation with other students who will come for the program, you can follow the instructions in the email after you apply for our program. We cooperate with very comfortable student accommodations with very good prices for our participants. It costs about €12-15/day, depending on the type of the room you choose (student accommodation for the students of Warsaw University), or you can book any accommodation you prefer through another platform by yourself.

New York: If you decide to go with our housing options (a dorm at one of the universities), you will pay ~20-50 dollars a day. Hotels/hostels are typically 200-250 USD starting.

What kind of free-time activities ECCE can organise for us?

Prague: We have trips during the weekend to well-known towns/castles of the students’ choice outside Prague (covered by ECCE). We also organise students to, e.g.Treasure Hunt, Tapfactor, and a Boat trip, Escaper etc. during the weekdays based on students' requests (not covered by ECCE).

Warsaw: We have trips during the weekend to well-known towns/castles of the students’ choice outside Warsaw (covered by ECCE). We also organise students to, e.g. interesting museum trips, musical events, a Boat trip, Escape Rooms etc. during the weekdays based on students' requests (not covered by ECCE).

New York: We have trips during the weekend to well-known landmarks around NYC (such as Ellis Island) covered by ECCE. We also organize day trips to museums, Escape Rooms, boat trips etc during the week days based on the students' requests (not covered by ECCE).

How can I pay the program fee?

Bank transfer: After you have applied through our website, we will send you an email with a Reference Number and ECCE’s account details for you to pay the program fee. The currency will automatically be converted into Euro.

Alipay: If you are from China, payment through Alipay can be very convenient for you. The detailed instruction will be sent after you applied.

Can I get a refund if I can't make it due to an unexpected issue?

Refunds are based on the individual situation. Cancellation after payment must be raised 40 days before the program starts. If the cancellation is due to a personal medical condition or Visa rejection from the government after we receive the approval proof/evidence, we will provide you with 95% of your payment (The 5% is attributable to our administration services). Cancellation within 40 days without the proof of the condition will receive 20% of the fee as a refund. The bank transfer fee will be deducted from the total amount. Other cases will be discussed on an individual case basis.

Can I still attend the program if I do not want to do the internship, and will I have a discount?

We strongly believe that you could benefit from the internship opportunity. However, if you do not have the time or wish to attend the second part of the program, you can apply only for the first part of the program as well. In that case, you would not need to cover the full fee for the program, but a reduced one. You can always approach us for further details.

 

About the lecture

What is the schedule for the lectures?

There will be about 30 topics covered during the 3-week lectures (2 topics/day), which will be arranged from 9:00-12:00 AM and 14:00-17:00 PM. The break will take place after the first half of the lecture.

Where is the classroom?

Prague: Faculty of Law of the Charles University in Prague - nám. Curieových 7, 116 40 Staré Město, Prague, Czech Republic.

Warsaw: The Old Library of the Warsaw University, ul. Krakowskie Przedmieście 26/28 Warsaw, Poland

Can I have the materials (e.g. PPT) from the lecturer?

Yes, you can. After the lectures, we will upload most of the material to our Intraweb on a daily basis, where you can download using your account from ECCE’s webs. (It might happen that some lecturers prefer not to share his/her PPT after the lecture due to the sensitive information in the PPT).

Internships

Can I choose my own internship company? Is there a chance to go to another EU country?

Yes, you can choose any internship position from the list of ECCE’s partners based on your test results. Yes, there is a chance. We have more than 200 partners for students’ internships in about 15 Schengen countries.  

When can I choose my internship? How?

You can decide your internship at the end of the 3-week lectures. After the 3-week lectures, all of the students will take a short test (consisting of questions from lectures and English). The results from each student will be presented as a ranking list together with participation during lectures. The top number 1 student will have the right to choose whichever company he/she prefers.

How many internship positions in one company?

Each company will have up to 2 internship positions.

Can I extend my internship after 4 weeks?

Yes, you can extend your internship for up to 5 weeks (in total) based on the agreement from your internship company.

What should I expect from the internship? How many working hours?

Prague: You can expect tailor-made internships in the fields of Architecture, Law and International Business ie. In most of the companies, you would work full-time during the internship.

Warsaw: You can expect tailor-made internships in the fields of Law. In most of the companies, you would work full-time during the internship.

New York: You can find tailor-made internships in the field of law and business. You should expect to work full time at your internships.

Visa

Do I need a visa to go to the Czech Republic/Warsaw/Schengen area?

Which type of the Visa should I apply for the program? How?

Prague: You will need to apply a short-term Schengen Visa (up to 90 days) for joining our program. Please visit the "Visa and Consular Information" by searching 'Embassy of the Czech Republic in your country' and make an appointment in advance.

Warsaw: You will need to apply a short-term Schengen Visa (up to 90 days) for joining our program. Please visit the "Visa and Consular Information" by searching 'Embassy of Poland in your country' and make an appointment in advance.

New York: You will need to apply for the short-term J1 Visa for joining our program. We will recommend a 3rd party site to use (at your own expense) or you can use a different site.

After the payment, ECCE will issue you an Invitation letter for your Visa application.

 

When should I apply for the visa?

We suggest you to start doing research from the official embassy website and check the available dates for Visa appointment first even you haven't got all the documents ready. The visa processing time varies in each country, which can be from 5 working days up to 60 days from our experience of helping students from the past.

Can I get the Invitation letter before I pay fully?

Prague: Unfortunately, we must include in our invitation letter that your payment is paid fully because the Czech embassy always cares deeply about this and they want to make certain that people granted visa are really coming for joining our program. We will refund most of your fees if your Visa application is declined by the embassy.

Warsaw: Unfortunately, we must include in our invitation letter that your payment is paid fully because the Polish embassy always cares deeply about this and they want to make certain that people granted visa are really coming for joining our program. We will refund most of your fees if your Visa application is declined by the embassy.

Other

Is there any chance we could get a scholarship from ECCE?

Yes, there is a chance. We reward our students at the Graduation Ceremony based on their overall performance during the 3-week lectures as an appreciation for their contribution to our program. The whole group will be closely observed, and the most active and talented students will be rewarded.
Also, we hold the competition each year to give the full scholarships in each program during the spring, which means that you can join our program free of charge if you won. Please pay closes attention to our website and social media for more information about the competition.

Whom should I contact if I have any question?

You could contact our team via question@eccedu.org. One of our team members will reply to you shortly, which is normally within 48 hours. If you do not receive our reply after 48 hours, it might be because the email got lost on the way, so we ask that you contact us again through another one of your email addresses.
