Tomáš Kaňka

Ing. Arch., Architect, GeddesKaňka

Tomáš Kaňka is a Czech architect and urban designer with 12 years of professional experience. After studying architecture and urban design at the CVUT Faculty of Architecture in Prague, the Czech Republic and at the University of Graz, Austria, Tomáš joined in 2005 the London architecture office of Geddes Architects. Geddes Architects had been for years recognized as leaders in designing shopping centers, business parks, and hospitality projects. In London Tomáš was appointed as the project architect for the Phase 3 and 4 of the Olympia Shopping Center in Brno, Czech Republic, working on the project from the concept design to the completion of construction in 2009. First working from the London office and after Tomáš and Clark Geddes established Geddes Architects Prague company in 2007, from the Prague office. Olympia center won several awards for being one of the commercially most successful centers in Central and Eastern Europe.

Tomáš and Clark Geddes continued cooperation on several international projects, which included Al Ruwais Retail and Al Falah Retail shopping centers projects in Abu Dhabi, UAE and two shopping centers projects in China, including a complex 70,000sqm Home Value mall renovation in Shanghai, from concept design to construction.

Recently Geddes Kaňka in Prague, in addition to retail projects, has also managed several residential projects (one villa renovation is now under construction), plus a  conversion of 2 historically protected office buildings into a prestigious modern office center in the heart of the Prague’s commercial business district, currently in the construction documents stage, and, in the planning stage is the renovation of a prominent industrial historical site of a 19th century distillery complex, into a 2 hectare mixed-use project.
